Preaching

Bible Reading: Titus 1
Titus 1:2-3 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began; 3 But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour.

The promise of eternal life is something that God has always promised to his people. The hope of life beyond this life is essential to this life. If there is nothing beyond this life, "let us eat and drink for tomorrow we die!" But there is eternity.

The interesting thing about this promise made to mankind is that God has made this promise in his word. But how do men and women learn of this incredible promise?

God's method of manifesting his word is through preaching. God could let people know of his promise in a lot of different ways. He could send angelic messengers. He could open the skies and speak directly to all men. We could be born with his promised tattooed on our bodies. But, no...God calls men to preach.

Preaching is a despised method of communication and it seems to be more so in our day. The Bible says:

1 Corinthians 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

Some will hear preaching and some will not. It is not up to us to decide for others. We need to preach Christ. The Bible says:

Romans 10:13-15 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. 14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

How will they hear without a preacher? God's method of delivering his message is through preaching. That does not mean a man standing behind a pulpit. It simply means God's people proclaiming God's word.

Will you preach the Word? It is God's method!

In Christ,
