Necessary Food

Bible Reading: Hebrews 7
Hebrews 7:22-25 By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament. 23 And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death: 24 But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. 25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

The New Testament which is a covenant in the blood of Jesus himself is better than the Old Covenant. The reason is Jesus Christ. He is our high priest. The priests of the Old Covenant were the descendants of Aaron. Some of these men were godly and some were not. However, they all died. They had to be succeeded by their sons.

Jesus will never die so he has an unchangeable priesthood. He is a priest forever! Now think of the ministry of the priest. He goes to God on behalf of the people. He makes offerings for the people. This priest, Jesus needed no offering for himself because he is without sin. However, he does make an offering for the people. He offered himself as our sacrifice!

Not only that but his intercession is unending. He lives forever and makes constant and perpetual intercession for us. For this reason, he is able to save anyone who comes to God through him to the uttermost. None will be lost. Jesus gives eternal life as a free gift. He intercedes without ceasing. He lives forever.

This is the New Covenant in the blood of Jesus. Are you included in this covenant? You can be if you will hear his word, believe his word and call upon his name.
