Lead a quiet and peaceable life

Bible Reading: 1 Timothy 2
1 Timothy 2:1-2 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

The Bible says that first of all in the church our emphasis must be on prayer. We are to pray with all kinds of prayers for all men. We are especially to pray for kings and those who are in authority. These men lead nations. The interesting thing about this is the result of our prayers.

We are to pray for those who lead nations so that we can lead quiet and peaceable lives in all godliness and honesty. Just what does the Bible mean by a quiet and peaceable life?

It means a life where we focus on following Christ. A quiet life is a life free from wars between nations. It is a life free from the restraints of government on the open worship of Jesus Christ. A quiet and peaceable life is a life where we focus on minding our own business and taking care of our families. It is a life where we allow the Holy Spirit to guide us into the good works that God as ordained that we walk in.

The life of godliness and honesty is one where we are motivated by the Holy Spirit to bear fruit. As branches abiding in the Vine we bear much fruit and glorify God. The nation should pass laws to preserve life and protect private property. The church should live in such a way that the doctrine of God is ornamented and people truly see the love that we have for one another.

It does not matter whether we have Christians or non-Christians in positions of authority. We are to pray for them that we may lead this kind of a life. We must pray for the salvation of our leaders so they too can truly have the peace that passes all understanding because of the hope that they have in Jesus Christ.

Let us pray!

In Christ,
Rody
