Them also which shall believe

Bible Reading: John 17
John 17:20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word.

Jesus prayed for the sanctification of the twelve. He prayed that they would be sanctified by the Father's truth.

John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

They needed the transformation of the Word and the Spirit in their lives. He also prayed this for you and me! Isn't it amazing that Jesus prayed that those of us who believe because of the word preached by the apostles would be sanctified too. This is High Priestly work that Jesus was and still it performing. He is in heaven making intercession for us right now. We are not on our own! He is at work on our behalf bringing transformation into our lives.

He also prayed for the mission that the apostles were sent on:

John 17:18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.

Jesus sent his apostles into the world with the same mission he had! They went to seek and to save that which was lost. Luke 19:10 He also prayed this for us! The mighty work of Jesus is to be carried on by his followers.

Have you ever thought about what Jesus prayed for you? He prayed for two things for your life:
1. Sanctification - He wants your life to be one that is consecrated to him. He wants you to live a holy life.
2. Mission - He is sending you with the same mission he had.

You have to be set apart for his work in order to do his work. Transformation and Telling the Truth.
Consecration and Conversation. Maturity and Mission. Sanctification and Sending. This is Jesus' prayer for you.

In Christ,
Rody
