The day of trouble

Bible reading: 2 Samuel 2; 1 Corinthians 13; Ezekiel 11; Psalm 50

Psalms 50:15 And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.

Jesus said:

John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

He promised us that in this world we would have tribulation. In this world we will have trouble. If you are not having some kind of trouble now, it will not be long before trouble comes your way. What do we do in the day of trouble? And what does trouble do in the life of a believer. Ultimately, God causes everything in a believer’s life to work out for their good.

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

So in the day of trouble what should you do? The Bible tells us that we are to call upon the LORD. Here is an incredible invitation to prayer when we face trouble. What does God do in our day of trouble? He promises to deliver us! How many times in the Bible do we see God’s children crying out to him in their trouble and experiencing his mighty deliverance? Remember the children of Israel at the Red Sea? Remember Elijah in the days of famine in Israel? Remember Paul and Silas in the jail?

God’s deliverance of his children leads to us glorifying him. We are so weak and limited. He is so strong and limitless! When he delivers God gets all the glory. This is the sum of the Lord’s Prayer!

Matthew 6:13b For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Troubles in our lives are opportunities to call upon the Lord and receive deliverance from him. This brings glory to his name when we praise him and acknowledge his mighty deliverance in our lives! What kind of trouble are you in right now? God invites you to call on him.

In Christ,

Rody
