Bible Reading: Judges 5; Acts 9; Jeremiah 18; Mark 4
Jeremiah 18:7-8 At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it; If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.
There is still hope for America! If you look around and see how far we have fallen from where we started as a nation and mourn, you will know that we cannot hope to continue in this path without reaping the consequences for the evil we have sowed. Has God spoken against America as a nation? Not directly, but indirectly he has.
Abortion - Proverbs 6:16-17 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood…
Over one million abortions are performed in the United States each year! That is like lining up one million children in front of a firing squad and shouting "Fire!" God hates this.
Homosexuality - Romans 1:26-27 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
Lying - Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
Lying would of course be the biggest of all. And it is enough to send anyone to hell. So if our nation were like Judah, we would be chastened for our apostasy. However, look at the goodness of God. If that nation will turn from their evil, God will repent. He will change his mind about destroying that nation. National repentance begins with you and me. Are we living a lie before God? Are we trusting in Christ and walking as he walked? Do we have a love for God; a love for our neighbor; a love for our brothers and sisters in Christ and a love for our enemies as Jesus has told us to have?
We must listen to the words of John the Baptist who informed the religious leaders of his day.
Matthew 3:8 Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance.
Does the fruit of our life show that we are constantly changing our minds to conform to the will of God? Are we living what we say we believe? This is the only hope for anyone, not just America. Let's follow Jesus!
In Christ,
Rody
