Bible Reading: Judges 4; Acts 8; Jeremiah 17; Mark 3
Acts 8:31 And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.
When Philip asked the eunuch from Ethiopia if he understood what he was reading from the prophet Isaiah, this was his answer. Do you know Jesus? Then you are the man (or woman)! The world is looking for a man, some man who can guide them. God is looking for a man, some man who can guide others to his Son! Now, our world is looking for a man to guide them, but they want a political messiah who can save them from themselves. This will never happen. The false messiah that comes will be the Antichrist. Even though many do not know it, they need a man to guide them to the Messiah who has come and is coming again – Jesus!
In order for you to be the man (or woman) who guides others to Jesus, you must be guided by God yourself. Philip was sensitive to the Word of the Lord and when he was told to go, he went!
Acts 8:26 And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.
The Bible says that a child of God is led by God's Spirit.
Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
If you are truly led by God, you will be led to those who need God. Are you ready to guide them to Jesus? Could you take a Bible and preach Jesus to someone? That is exactly what Philip did.
Acts 8:35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.
Philip's guidance he provided for the Eunuch was to start where he was and preach Jesus to him. He did not get sidetracked with other things. He took him to the One who could save him. You see, this is the way God works. He saves people by using other people who are saved.
Romans 1:16-17 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
God reveals his righteousness through the gospel from faith to faith. Philip had faith in Jesus Christ and he led the Eunuch to faith. Are you ready to guide someone to Jesus Christ? God wants to guide you so you can be a guide to others.
