Mark 10:6 But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.
When asked about divorce, Jesus gave the Pharisees a comprehensive teaching on marriage. He first took them all the way back to creation. In the garden, God witnessed the very first marriage. Jesus affirmed the creation history in the book of Genesis. God created the heaven and the earth. He planted a garden and made a man and a woman. He brought the woman to the man and they became one flesh.
In God's design, he created them male and female. There are some who say they are homosexual and God made them that way. This statement is not true. Sin is the cause for homosexuality. A liar cannot say God made him that way. A murderer cannot say God made him that way. An adulterer cannot say God made him that way. Neither can a sexually confused homosexual say that God made him that way.
God's design for marriage is for one man and one woman to be married for as long as they both live.
Mark 10:7-9 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
The man leaves his father and mother as far as a family is concerned and a new family is begun when he marries his wife. He cleaves to her so tightly that they become one flesh. God now sees them as one flesh. They become something new as far as a family unit is concerned. They are united together by God himself. It is God that puts a man and his wife together. If that one flesh relationship is torn apart by divorce, it is always done by man.
Our world is so confused over marriage. Some want to have 'same sex marriage'. That is not marriage. Marriage is God's idea and is laid out in his Word from the very creation. We cannot redefine it to mean something different that what God intends it to mean. Many within the media, the government and the church are trying hard to do away with God's plan for marriage. We must believe and teach the truth about marriage. We must live the truth in our day to day lives. Do you have a spouse? Thank God for him or her. Cherish them and encourage others to do the same!
In Christ,
