How good and how pleasant

Bible Reading: Psalm 133

Psalms 133:1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

It is good when brethren dwell together in unity. It is not good when they live in strife and dispute. This goes for a church, a family or a nation. How many churches are fussing and fighting about something? How many brothers and sisters are fussing and fighting about something? Nations?

As David thought about this his mind went to the anointing of Aaron as the high priest. As the oil ran down his head and onto his beard, it was a picture of the Holy Spirit coming upon him. The Spirit who brings with him the fruit of the Spirit.

Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

The Holy Spirit brings unity. He is God and when God lives in you and he lives in me, we will both have the same mind. This brings unity. It is good. It is pleasant. Against the fruit of the Spirit, there is no law. When brethren are motivated by the Spirit of God, they love one another and live in peace. They are gentle and meek toward each other. This happens when the Holy Spirit of Jesus fills the life.

David also thought about the cool dew of Hermon that would come down from the mountains into the valleys. As a shepherd, that dew was life. It might not rain for months or years in many places in the desert, but the dew would make the grass grow.

Like the anointing of God and the blessing of dew, living together in unity is a blessing associated with everlasting life. When brethren know Jesus and know they will live forever, they can live a life of rejoicing and loving one another now.

Will you allow the Holy Spirit to fill you so that his fruit flows from your life?

In Christ,
Rody
