Help Lord

Bible Reading: Psalms 3,4,12,13,28 & 55

Psalms 12:1 Help, Lord; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men.

Have you ever felt like this? David looked around and saw that men did not love and fear God. It seemed that there were no believers left. He felt all alone. He saw the ungodly direction that society was going and he cried out to God for help.

Many times it seems that is the case. You watch the news and from the highest positions of leadership to the school children it seems that people are immoral and godless. One of the ways that David could tell what was in their hearts were the words of their mouths.

Psalms 12:2 They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak.

As David thought about this, God began to do a work in his heart and reminded David that though men speak with a double heart, God always speaks truth. You and I may not be able to trust what men say, but we can always trust what God says.

Where do you look for hope for the future? Do you look to man with his flattering lips? No, David reminds us what God will do with those!

Psalms 12:3-4 The Lord shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things: Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us?

Men who think they have no one to answer to will be sadly mistaken. However, we can trust the Word of God because it is preserved. His Words are true and tried and will never fail.

Psalms 12:6-7 The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. 7 Thou shalt keep them, O Lord,
thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

When it looks like there are no more faithful followers of Christ left in the world, look to God's Word. He has given us his Word that is pure and tried as sliver in a furnace of earth. He will keep his words. You can trust the Bible! It is God's love letter to us!

In Christ,
