Grace did much more abound

Bible Reading: Romans 5

Romans 5:20-21 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

The law shows the sinfulness of sin. When God wrote down the law on tables of stone, men knew for sure what God desired of them. Not that they didn’t know beforehand, but now it was clear.) However, where sin abounded, grace abounded more! What a wonderful declaration! God’s grace is always greater than sin. When you think of this just remember that as dreadful as sin is in God’s sight, his grace is more powerful and more abundant.

The awful consequence of sin is death – always! Sin always leads to death. Sin, like a king reigns and its kingdom is one of death. But God’s grace comes from the true king – Jesus. A wicked king uses the treat of death to tyrannize his unwilling subjects. The true king reigns by righteousness and his kingdom is one of life – eternal life. Grace is more powerful than sin! Righteousness leads to eternal life through Jesus Christ!

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

The Bible is clear that grace is the way we are saved from sin and death. We do not achieve this righteousness; we receive it from Christ by faith. There is nothing on our part to boast of except the wonderful goodness of Jesus Christ. Do you know the abounding grace of Jesus Christ? Has his righteousness overwhelmed your tendency to sin so that your motivation is changed now to respond to the grace of God? God’s grace is amazing and it leads to righteousness. You can trust Jesus!

In Christ,
