God judges the righteous

Bible Reading: Judges 21; Acts 25; Jeremiah 35; Psalms 7 & 8

Psalms 7:11 God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.

God sees all. That is a disturbing thought when you think of your sin. That is a wonderful thought when you think of God righting all wrongs. Many people want to think that God just overlooks the wickedness of men but the Bible says he is wicked with them every day. God does not wink at wickedness; he will do something about it. God however is also longsuffering. The Bible says:

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

God gives the wicked a chance. The Psalm goes on to say:

Psalms 7:12-14 If he turn not, he will whet his sword; he hath bent his bow, and made it ready. He hath also prepared for him the instruments of death; he ordaineth his arrows against the persecutors. Behold, he travaileth with iniquity, and hath conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood.

Can you hear God's Word? "If he turn not, he will whet his sword." That 'if' is an important word. If the wicked turn, he is going to experience the grace of God. If he does not turn, he is going to face the weapons of God's fury. The way that God does that is to cause a wicked person to have his own devices turn on him.

Psalms 7:15-16 He made a pit, and digged it, and is fallen into the ditch which he made. His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down upon his own pate.

Make no mistake, God will right every wrong. He will not let people get away with sin. He is going to judge sin. The good news is that God has already judged sin in Jesus Christ. So every person has a choice. They can either face the judgment of God or they can trust in Jesus Christ. The only righteous One is Jesus Christ. If you are 'in Him' your sins have already been judged. If you are not, you will face the judgment of God. Why would anyone face God's judgment when they can have God's grace? Trust in Jesus!

In Christ,
