Faith if it hath not works is dead

Bible Reading: James 2
James 2:17-18 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

A man is saved by faith apart from works. But a true faith always has works that flow from it. We often meet people who say they believe in Jesus, but have not been to church in years. Their lives look just like the people who live around them. Some of them are living an openly rebellious life to the clear teaching of the New Testament. Are they truly saved?

The answer is - only God knows. However as James says a man can show the faith he has by his works. A truly saved man will have a changed life. His life will now be a witness to the truth of Jesus Christ. He will be a man of prayer. He will love Jesus Christ and love the brethren. He will be a giver and not a taker.

A dead faith is a mere profession with no possession of the life that Christ gives. A true faith comes from the indwelling Spirit of God who lives in us. If the Spirit lives in us, he will want to bear fruit in our lives.

Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

A true faith shows! If the life of Jesus is in you, let him get out of you.

In Christ,
Rody
