They knew that he was Christ

Bible Reading: 1 Chronicles 15; James 2; Amos 9; Luke 4

Luke 4:33-34 And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice, Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God.

Luke 4:41 And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ.

The devils know Jesus! They know exactly who he is and they know what their eventual fate will be. He is going to cast them into the lake of fire and they will be eternally destroyed there!

Matthew 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels.

Isn’t it interesting that the devils know who Jesus is and they fear him, yet many people do not? Isn’t it interesting that just knowing who Jesus is does not save someone? The devils believe there is only one God! They know there is only one God and all the other ‘gods’ are imposters. The reason they know this is because the devils are the ones acting as the other ‘gods’.

James tells us that just believing there is one God is not necessarily saving faith. His reason is that the devils believe there is only one God!

James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

What is James point? It is just that there are many who say they believe in God, but their lives do not show any change. Devils know who God is but their lives are not transformed. Is the fact that you believe on Jesus Christ making a difference in your life? Has your faith changed you?

A real saving faith in Jesus leaves you entirely different than you used to be! The Bible says:

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Those devils are not new creatures. They are the same old creatures who rebelled against their Creator. Their destiny is the lake of fire. But you and I can become new when we trust in Jesus. Has your faith in Jesus changed you? Or do you have ‘devil faith’? Devil faith is the kind that knows who Jesus is, but there is no change in the life.

James 2:20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

How has faith in Jesus Christ changed you?

In Christ,

Rody
