Of his kingdom there shall be no end

Bible Reading: 1 Chronicles 7 & 8; Hebrews 11; Amos 5; Luke 1:1-38

Luke 1:30-33 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

Gabriel’s task was to deliver this message to Mary. I bet she was amazed when he showed up at her home and told her these things. Just imagine what must have been going through Mary’s mind as she felt the baby growing in her womb. She was carrying a child that God’s angel said would be named JESUS. His very name means salvation. She was carrying a baby boy who would be great. Here we are two thousand years later and he is the greatest Man who ever lived!

Mary was informed that she was carrying the Son of the Highest. She was going to give birth to the Son of God. What an incredible thought that must have been to Mary. The angel told her all these things beforehand and she knew exactly what was going with this baby boy!

As a descendant of Judah, Mary was carrying the king! Jesus will receive from God the throne of his father David! He will reign from David’s throne and his kingdom will never end.

Psalms 132:11 The LORD hath sworn in truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne.

On his mother’s side, Jesus is a descendant of Judah and is the heir of David’s throne. On his Father’s side, Jesus is the Son of God and he will reign with an everlasting kingdom over all the earth! He is the King of kings and the Lord of lords! Praise his name!

If you are a part of his kingdom, you will live forever with him as he rules a kingdom of righteousness. What a thought – you and I can have a relationship with the King of kings!

In Christ,

Rody
