The brightness of his glory

Bible Reading: 2 Kings 19; Hebrews 1; Hosea 12: Psalms 135-136

Hebrews 1:3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high.

This is the Lord Jesus Christ! He is the brightness of the glory of the Father. In other words, the part of God that is brilliant light is Jesus Christ! He is the express image of the person of God. Jesus said it like this:

John 12:45-46 And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me. I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

What does God look like? He looks like Jesus Christ. To see Jesus is to see God and to know Jesus is to know God. To believe on Jesus is to have the light of life and to walk in light instead of darkness. Do you know him?

Not only that, but Jesus is the Creator of the universe. Out of nothing, he created everything by his Word (John 1:1-3; Hebrews 1:2). Since he created it all, now by his Word he holds it all together. Matter, energy, gravity, magnetism, subatomic bonds and light are all controlled by the glorious Jesus and his mighty word. He is the sustainer and maintainer of all that is! He is powerful! Do you know him?

He is the One who came to take away sins. The Bible says by himself he purged our sins. He did this by willingly shedding his precious blood on the cross because of the great love he has for us. He purged our sins by the sacrifice of himself. He gave himself for us! There are two great works that God has done. These are two works that only God can do. One is the creation of all that is out of nothing. The other is the great work of redemption whereby Christ paid the debt that we owe by sacrificing himself. When he had finished creation, the Bible says he rested. He did not rest because he was tired; he rested because he was finished (Genesis 2:1-2). When he had finished the great work of redemption the Bible says Jesus sat down on the right had of the Majesty on high. Once again Jesus does not need to sit down because he is tired. He sat down because he was finished.

John 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

Give him praise and glory this day!

In Christ,

Rody
