Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 7
1 Corinthians 7:1-2 Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.
I wish that young people would be taught the Bible. Here it teaches us it is good for a man not to touch a woman. How far is too far in dating? Kissing is too far. The Bible says don’t touch her. Wow! That is ‘old fashioned’ and out of date. No, it’s Bible. Why? Because touching leads to kissing; and kissing leads to more touching; and more touching leads to … fornication. Just in case we think fornication is not such a big deal, here is what the previous chapter said about it:
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
God designed us and he knows exactly how strong the sexual drive in man is. Now add the sin that we all deal with and it just compounds the situation. God designed that sexual union for marriage. Anything outside of that is sin. As a matter of fact, the Bible teaches us that marital sexual relations are good and should be a part of the relationship.
1 Corinthians 7:3-5 Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife. Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.
The marriage bed is undefiled.
Hebrews 13:4 Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.
Marriage is God’s idea and it is a good one. Marriage is the very first of all human relationships that God ordained in the Garden of Eden. The Bible teaches us that Satan is always waiting to tempt even the married couple in the area of sexual sin. The Bible answer to sexual sin is marriage. The Godly marriage is a life-long one that is based on mutual love and is bound together by God himself.
