Glorify God in your body

Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 6

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

Jesus began this teaching that the body is the temple. He said it of his body.

John 2:18-21 Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things? Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? But he spake of the temple of his body.

Just as God raised up the body of the Lord Jesus Christ, he will also raise up the bodies of believers.

1 Corinthians 6:14 And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power.

This body will be raised up. It will be changed, yes, but it will be raised up. Now, it is the temple of the Holy Spirit. God, the Holy Spirit lives in you! Why? You were bought with the price of the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. You do not belong to yourself. As a Christian, you belong to God. Therefore, what you do in the body matters. Where you go, Jesus goes. What you do, Jesus does. Why? Because Jesus lives in you.

Now the question is: who is leading whom? Are you leading Jesus? Or is Jesus leading you? If Jesus is leading you, then he would never go some places to indulge in sinful activities. He always does what glorifies God. That is what you and I are called to do as well. Just think of it. Would Jesus ever commit fornication? No. So he would never lead you to do so. Where would Jesus be on Sunday? Church. Would Jesus take something that was not his? No. Would Jesus use his mouth to blaspheme God? No.

For this reason, what you do with the temple of the Holy Spirit is very important. It is the body that the Holy Spirit lives in. Let Jesus lead you and you will glorify God with your body.

In Christ,

Rody
