Love covereth all sins

Bible Reading: Proverbs 10, 11 & 12

Proverbs 10:12 Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.

Strifes abound! Where do they come from? They come from hatred and hatred comes from the heart.

James 4:1 From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?

Galatians 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Hatred comes from the lusts within and according to Galatians, it is a work of the flesh. So it comes from the fallen human nature and the flesh cannot be cleaned up, it must be crucified. The flesh causes sin. However, love covers sin.

Love does not originate from the same source as hatred. Hatred comes from the fountain of our flesh. Love comes from the spring of the Spirit of God.

John 7:38-39 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. 39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

It is easy to see the headwaters of what is coming from our lives. If it is the flesh, we will be surrounded by strife and we will cause strife because of our hatred. However, if we are walking in the Spirit, we can see the covering love of Jesus coming from our lives.

1 Peter 4:8 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.

Instead of stirring up strife, we can love and cover sins.

James 5:20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

To truly love is to cover sins and pray that the person will turn to Jesus, who can take sins away.
