Happy is he

Bible Reading: Proverbs 16, 17 & 18

Proverbs 16:20 He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the Lord, happy is he.

Do you want to be happy? Do you want to find good in life? Then the Bible says you need to trust in the Lord.

Faith is to believe what God says and to trust him in all things. We need to trust the Lord in order to have salvation from our sins (Ephesians 2:8-9). We also need to trust the Lord with our day to day existence. We trust that Jesus will come to take us to the home he has prepared for us (John 14:1-3).

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Faith pleases God and happiness comes from a right relationship with our Creator.

If faith is so vital, where can we get it?

Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

The Word of God is the key to having faith. In it we have the 'great and precious promises' (2 Peter 1:4), that we are to believe. There we also gain wisdom. Jesus said:

Matthew 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

To hear and to obey is the way of the wise man. Do you want to find good? Do you want happiness? Then trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and study and obey his word. If you will do this prayerfully, you will find goodness and happiness.

James 1:5-8 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. 8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
