The Lord gave them rest round about

Bible Reading: Joshua 19-21

Joshua 21:43-45And the LORD gave unto Israel all the land which he sware to give unto their fathers; and they possessed it, and dwelt therein. 44 And the LORD gave them rest round about, according to all that he sware unto their fathers: and there stood not a man of all their enemies before them; the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hand. 45 There failed not ought of any good thing which the LORD had spoken unto the house of Israel; all came to pass .

Hundreds of years before, God had promised Abraham that he would give this land to Abraham's descendants. He gave it to the children of Israel and they possessed it and dwelt in the land. Not only that, but the Lord gave them rest round about and they were able to defeat their enemies.

They were the recipients of the grace and goodness of God. God promised and he kept his promise. God always keeps his promises! He is the only one who is capable of keeping his promises. When I leave the house and tell my family that I will be back later, I have to remember that is "God willing." I may not make it home! I may not make it through the day. But God always keeps his Word. You can trust him!

1 Peter 1:3-5 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Jesus has promised us an inheritance which is reserved in heaven. He has promised to keep us by his mighty power until that inheritance is ready to be revealed. He has promised - he will do it!
