Thy sins be forgiven thee

Bible Reading: Matthew 9

Matthew 9:2 And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.

Have you heard those words from Jesus? They are five of the most important and blessed words you could ever hear. Those sins that separate from the Father are forgiven! The prophet Isaiah said the day would come when our sins would be washed away.

Isaiah 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

Jesus said these words to a sick man whose friends believed in Jesus and knew that he could heal their friend. This man was brought to Jesus and it seemed the pressing need in his life was to be healed of his physical malady. Jesus however addressed the eternal life-threatening disease first – sin. What difference does it make if your body is healed and you still are not washed of your sins? After he addressed the eternal issue, then the Great Physician addressed the physical issue.

Matthew 9:6-7 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house. And he arose, and departed to his house.

Jesus can forgive sins. He is the only One who can. No church can forgive them and you cannot get rid of them by yourself. You must have them taken away and the Lamb of God is the One who can do that. Have you been to Jesus for forgiveness? He will forgive if you will confess and ask.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

We can hear the words that man heard from Jesus. We can be set free from the shackles of sin that are upon us. We can be clean if we will come to Jesus in faith. Have you head those words from Jesus? They are five of the most important and blessed words you could ever hear.

In Christ,

Rody
