The Lord Shall Fight for You

Bible Reading: Exodus 13-15

Exodus 14:13-14 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. 14 The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

Do you fight your battles or does the Lord?  When Israel left Egypt, the Pharaoh changed his mind and began to pursue after them.  When the people saw the Egyptians pursuing them, they were afraid and began to complain to Moses.  Moses knew that this Exodus was God's idea and that he was going to fight for them.  He told the people what you and I need to hear when we face the enemy.

1.  Fear ye not!  There is not need to be afraid.  We need to have faith, not fear.

2.  Stand still!  This is hard to do sometimes.  Our souls are troubled and we feel uneasy sometimes.  We need to hear that God wants us to stand still.  But why do we need to stand still?  So that we can...

3.  See the salvation of the Lord.  The Lord is a man of war(Exodus 15:3).  He is the one who will fight for us and he is the one who will save us.  We need to know that he is working on our behalf.

Some might question and ask if we are to be totally passive when facing the enemy.  Of course not.  The Bible says:

Ephesians 6:10-13 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

We are not passive in the battle.  We wrestle.  We put on the whole armour of God.  We resist...But first we submit to God, and we know that Jesus said:

John 15:5b for without me ye can do nothing.

Let God fight for you!

In Christ,
