Where is the place of understanding

Bible Reading: Exodus 10; Job 28; Luke 13; 1 Corinthians 14

Job 28:20 Whence then cometh wisdom? and where is the place of understanding?

Job was searching for wisdom. Do you search for wisdom? Where might you look? He began to go on a tour of the earth to find it. He rehearsed all the precious things that come from the earth and where you might find them. Silver and gold are found in the earth. Iron and brass are mined. The earth is also very productive and bread comes from it. But where is the path that leads to wisdom?

Job 28:7-9 There is a path which no fowl knoweth, and which the vulture's eye hath not seen: 8 The lion's whelps have not trodden it, nor the fierce lion passed by it. 9 He putteth forth his hand upon the rock; he overturneth the mountains by the roots.

Job realized that wisdom was the most valuable thing a man could find. Unfortunately most men do not accurately value wisdom. It is priceless! Not only that, but it cannot be found in the land of the living. You can't dive deep into the sea and find it. You cannot dig a hole in the earth and mine it. You cannot plant a field and grow it. You can't buy it with the price of the most valuable commodity on this earth.

Job 28:19 The topaz of Ethiopia shall not equal it, neither shall it be valued with pure gold.

There is only one place wisdom may be found. It is to be obtained from God.

Job 28:23 God understandeth the way thereof, and he knoweth the place thereof.

God knows so we must go to him. Not only does he know, but he promises to give us wisdom if we will ask for it in faith.

James 1:5-7 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

Wisdom is not to be bought or grown; it is given to us by God when we ask him in faith. What is wisdom?

Job 28:28 And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.

Wisdom is to fear God and depart from evil. Are you walking in wisdom? Are you asking Jesus for wisdom in faith? Go to God, he will give you wisdom.

In Christ,
